Martha Galea

People often ask me “why did you take up yoga?” My short answer is the cultivation of mental space that fosters cerebral fitness, nourishes the spirit, and connects us to our inner self. In essence, yoga acts as a channel between mind, body and spirit.

Yoga serves as an optimal conduit that detaches us from the rat race of modern life. In T. S. Eliot’s words, we are often “distracted from distraction by distraction”. What we really need is the practice of decluttering, a recalibration of the self, in order to create space for mental clarity to occur. For me, yoga is one effective way to calm and focus the mind, making me more in tune and empathic, both with myself and those around me.

The discipline of yoga allows me a time and place to be fully present, and to listen to the sounds of my thoughts through the welcoming of silence and meditation. I invite you to join my yoga classes and gift yourself the time to fully sharpen your sense of self-awareness, to focus on your body, on your mind, and on the beautiful connection that exists between the two.
